Sterling silver ring set with Mexican Cantera Opal and four beaded embellishments. This opal was cracked in the process of setting the ring and mended with silver dust in the Kintsugi way.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer and powdered silver, gold or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. The beautiful art of embracing imperfection and minimizing waste.
US size 8
Polished to a shine and stamped with “.925” sterling silver.
Opals are more delicate than other gemstones and need to be worn with care. Remove your opal jewelry before entering water and during activity where it may get scratched.
